GoFit Ultimate Burst Resistant Core Stability Ball with Workout DVD (55 cm) Review

GoFit Ultimate Burst Resistant Core Stability Ball with Workout DVD (55 cm)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased 2 GoFit Ultimate Burst Resistant Core Stability Balls w/DVD (orange 55cm and purple 65cm)over a year ago from Amazon (on sale). The ball is a very durable, good quality ball (no foul smells or sticky surfaces like some other stability balls). I haven't had any problems with the ball in over a year of constant use. I have had to occasionally add air to keep the ball at the appropriate size (but nothing out of the ordinary).
This package comes with the ball, pump and workout DVD. I didn't even attempt to use the cheap manual pump included, but opted to use my husband's automatic pump, which quickly and easily inflated the ball to the desired size without any effort. The workout DVD is that in name only. It has some good exercise ideas, but if you are looking for a stability ball workout, you will probably want to buy a separate "true" stability ball workout DVD. Also, if you ever need an extra plug, you can buy them directly from the manufacturer at GoFit.net.
As a side note ...
When determining what size stability ball to purchase, leg length (not height) is what ultimately dictates the size ball you need. If you know you have shorter or longer legs for your height, then you may need to get a smaller or larger ball than the standard height charts for stability balls.
For those of you who are unsure of how much to inflate your stability ball, here are some helpful guidelines taken from the fitnesource site ... On a wall, measure 55cm, 65cm or 75cm (depending on the ball size you have) from the floor and mark it with a pencil. Then inflate the ball until it feels/looks "full", but is not hard and still has a little bit of give in it when you press on it. Put the ball close to the mark you made on the wall and then place a ruler on top of the ball so that it touches the top of the ball and the mark on the wall. This will tell you how close you are to the maximum inflation for your ball size. If this is the first time you are inflating the ball, while it might seem full, it might still measure small. If this happens, give the ball a day to "stretch out" and then add some additional air, if needed. If you don't want to do all that, they also sell tape measures specifically for measuring the diameter of stability balls. Just keep in mind, that when you sit on the ball with your feet flat on the ground and knees bent, your knees should be level with or slightly lower than your hips (a 90 degree angle).

Cando Hand Exercise Web (Low Powder) - Small - 7" Review

Cando Hand Exercise Web (Low Powder) - Small - 7
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This web works OK as a hand exerciser (though I barely used it) - my problem was with the smell. It was STRONG! It made my whole room stink of rubber/plastic. I washed it in soap and water many times - no improvement. When I used it, my hands would stink. I grew to hate the smell. I finally set it outside in the sun in hopes it would eventually outgas and stop stinking. No luck - it stunk even after the UV degraded the rubber material and it all fell apart. So I threw it away.
At Physical Therapy, I used a different brand of web exerciser, and it did not stink. So maybe some other brand doesn't have the same problem. The concept is good, the material choice of this brand was horrible.

Thera-Band Exercise Tubing - Latex Tubing - 100 ft. Review

Thera-Band Exercise Tubing - Latex Tubing - 100 ft.
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'd noticed other reviews of exercise tubing in which some folks got the stated length but not as a single piece. This company is also apparently doing the same. I was hoping to get the 25 feet as a single piece, not as the 11 and 16 feet chunks I got (and I don't consider getting a bit 'extra' any bonus). If you order 100 ft ...what do you get ten 10foot pieces. Not completely truthful in my opinion.

Made of natural rubber, exercise tubing is available in seven lengths of progessive resistance. resistance levels, obtained by varying the thickness of the tubing, are color-coded in proprietary thera-band colors increasing in difficulty through seven levels from tan to silver. the color-coding system provides positive reinforcement and feedback for gauging results. on general, tan and yellow are used for early rehabilitation or very frail individuals.

Knee Continuous Passive Motion (CPM) Machine Review

Knee Continuous Passive Motion (CPM) Machine
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Many health insurance carriers cover most, if not all, of the rental/leasing fees associated with using a CPM machine for the first crucial 2+ weeks after knee surgery. Check with your carrier and orthopedic surgeon prior to surgery to determine your options. For best results, pair a CPM machine with a continuously fed cryo (cooling) system such as a Breg Cryo Cuff .
As of February 18, 2005, I'm 2 weeks post-op from ACL reconstruction (patellar autograft) surgery with repairs (removal of damaged portion) to both my medial and lateral meniscuses. Thanks to the CPM, cryo cuff system, lots of at home exercising and a good bit of luck, I reached 115 degrees flexion and 0 degrees extension just 3 days post-op at my first physical therapy (PT) session. And 2 weeks post-op (today), I now am at 130 degrees flexion (just 5 degrees shy of the generally accepted "full flexion" range for post-op knees). Highly recommended for keeping the knee limber, flexible and active, particularly during that first week when every movement takes twice as long and hurts five times more than you expect.

The Flexmate CPM machine, which this one appears to be, is extremely quiet. You can easily sleep with it running, although you may develop a crick in your neck due to having to sleep on your back. The neck cramp is worth the increased flexion in your knee, though!

Home Ranger? Shoulder Pulley, model 240 Review

Home Ranger? Shoulder Pulley, model 240
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When I started physical therapy after having arthroscopic surgery for Impingement of the Shoulder, the therapist wanted me to use the shoulder pulley at home as part of my recovery exercises. I am very pleased with this Home Ranger Shoulder Pulley. It is the same exact one that is used at my physical therapy center and has helped me increase by range of motion. It is sturdy and well made. The two pulleys offered at my local medical supply store cost twice as much and were not made nearly as well.

Sunny Health & Fitness Motorized Mini Bike Review

Sunny Health and Fitness Motorized Mini Bike
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My Dad had a stroke about 8 months ago and lost movement on his right side. I hoped that this machine might help him in his recovery. At first I could not understand the use of a machine that actually does the pedaling for you. I thought the motor would provide resistance and was disappointed when I set it up. I couldn't have been more wrong. My Father needed the help the motor provides. He only had one good leg. As soon as I turned it on for him he smiled. He loves it.
The most important feature turned out to be the dial that controls the speed. This provides almost infinite (so it seems) speeds. The digital ones can't do that. When he first started he needed the slower speeds that only this dial could provide.
This machine has performed flawlessly, it has been used almost every day for 2 months with no problems. The timer is a great feature, the machine shuts off when it reaches 0.
Minor Issues
1) We removed the calorie counter as it gets in the way and kept falling off. It wasn't needed anyway.
2) The blue plastic feet are not secured to the legs and tend to spin when moving it around. Secure the blue feet and it would be a perfect machine.
My Dad's trainer checked it out before he started using it.

Cando Twist-n-Bend Flexible Hand Exercise Bars - Color-coded - 6-resistances Review

Cando Twist-n-Bend Flexible Hand Exercise Bars - Color-coded - 6-resistances
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Twist-n-Bend extra heavy hand bar is a solid tube of rubber. It comes coated with a powder that is to keep it dry in its sealed wrapping. A considerable amount of time goes by before the powder is removed from the rubber, even if it is washed in cold water. With use, a gritty residue comes to the surface of the rubber and the bar along with your hands have to be wiped off after the workout. Maximum force is necessary to bend and twist this hand bar, so it is not for someone who lacks superior arm strength. The X-Heavy model provides a good supplement to arm workouts and would be of great use for wrestlers, judo & jiu-jitsu competitors, along with boxers, bouncers, and anyone else that is in combat sports or situations.
Average folks should use the medium, light, x-light or xx-light model of the Twist-n-Bend.
For the price, its probably a better choice than the more expensive name brand model by Thera-Band.
