(More customer reviews)This is great product that first came to my attention in the mid-1980's. I used to have one but lost it somewhere during a move. I recommend it because it helps ease the back tension for sit-ups while helping pull your upper body forward. The down side is that I've never been able to use it effectively for pulling the lower body toward my chest. It can be done, but that procedure is awkward, as you will immediately notice if you use this product. I use a different approach for that. There is no magic bullet for exercise and health. We all just have to keep at it and use whatever safe and fairly useful products we can find.

I am a long time fan/user of electronic muscle stim as a supplement to my regular workouts, and this product made my arms incredibly sore in the way that lets me know the muscles received a great stimulation. I would recommend this product to anyone looking to add to their routine. A recent article in the Wall Street journal talked about how stim will NOT make you toned but it will make your muscles stronger. I use this product along with a regular gym routine to train my bi's and tri's.
EDIT - April 2010 - have had this product for 4 months now and wanted to amend my review. The little metal clips where the power pack attaches to the arm unit are a bit flimsy. Mine have come out about 3 times and I was lucky enough to find them and put them back into their sockets. I had to use pliers to force it back in. For a $100 item this should not be the case, I still use it and it works - but I would change my review to 4 stars based on this annoyance.

It comes with a poster showing the wide variety of exercise routines for which it is beneficial. It works muscle groups that are otherwise hard to trigger voluntarily, and is especially good for improving core muscle strength and balance (when used with a balance disk or beam - highly recommended). Also, it is difficult to overstress muscle groups because of the unique way this works. It is easy to carry on business trips, providing a way of exercising in motel rooms and at odd times when the gym is not the best place to go.

(More customer reviews)I've read some reviews of this item and think it deserves a positive rating. If you use it to do "sit-ups" and a "seriuos" workout you're missing the point. I bought it because of back problems and the inablility to do a "sious" workout. I found that using it more like a rocking chair than an ab bench works best.
