North American Healthcare JB4866 Arched Back Stretcher Review

North American Healthcare JB4866 Arched Back Stretcher

Bought this product a few days ago from this company through Amazon. Delivery was quick, and price is great. There are a couple others I saw on Amazon that look similar, but appear to be constructed of bare metal, and are over three times the price of this one. This one's shape is similar, and it is padded and professionally upholstered. For 20 bucks, I figured I'd try it. The instructions are a little vague, you're supposed to lay on your back, with this device under your back, and stretch out with your hands over your head, yet it does not say what to do with your legs. (There is a picture that shows a woman with her legs outstretched as well) however, I found it fairly uncomfortable to have legs outstretched, almost seemed that legs should be bent at the knees slightly. Just lying and stretching out didn't seem to help me at all and at first, I was disappointed. (I had a dull pain on the lower right side of my back, which I often get, and after this first use, found no change in my back. This was early morning. An hour or so later, I decided to try it again. This time, I laid with the arch under my back and positioned the arch so that the pain in my back was in contact with where I felt the most comfortable pressure from the device. (You simply slide the device forward or backward to achieve this). Then, with a pillow positioned under my head, I stretched out like before (hands over head, but this time, after stretching out, I bent my knees, brought them up together towards my chest(like in a sitting position, except I was laying on my back on the floor), and then slowly lowered my legs and extended them out, and CRACK! CRACK! CRACK! CRACK!, I could just feel the pops and cracks going down my spine. Repeated this a couple times, and then I got up. The dull lower back pain was gone and stayed gone rest of the day. Later in the evening, after some yard work, pain reoccurred, so I used it again and repeated the process, and again with the cracks and pops, and it felt great once again. Amazing to me. I do go to a chiropractor, and I love the results I get there, but it's expensive, and this seems to be great for in-between treatments, or hopefully to increase time between treatments.
Either way, it's great to have something around the house to relieve the pain whenever I need it. Super deal, for the money, I highly recommend it.
My experience so far has been only positive. I wrote such a lengthy review to detail the procedure I discovered that helped me, in the hopes that if others who purchase this product don't see results from simply stretching out like in the instructions, they might benefit from the method I described above. It helped me, I hope it helps you too. Good luck.

Sunpentown Infrared Blood Circulation Massager Review

Sunpentown Infrared Blood Circulation Massager
Average Reviews:

This was not well designed. It vibrates rambunctiously. The touch pads at the top are small and cannot be toe pressed except for the on/off icon after repeated attempts. The remote only turns it on and off; all other functions have to be programmed with the fingers. With poor directions, the function settings are unfathomable. I almost sent this back, assuming that the vibrations would knock out the touch pad but realized shipping costs and selecting another might pose the same problem, so I decided to use it as long as it lasted before the vibrations knocked out the electronics. That said, the raised acupuncture points foot pads are wonderful, the foot massage is great, although it has a mind of it's own, each time it seems to program itself differently. I turn it on and it does it's own thing for however long it chooses. Switch placement, how large the touch pads and if it can be foot operated is a big thing. This is my 5th foot massager, my experience knows that it doesn't need such complex, obscure options; 3-4 would suffice. Next time I will examine the control system, knowing that simpler is better.

RESPeRATE Blood Pressure Lowering Device Review

RESPeRATE Blood Pressure Lowering Device
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
...and if you need some motivation, factor in long-term medication cost into your buying decision.
BOTTOM LINE: Buy this ONLY if you are willing to put in both the time and the effort required to see results. That translates into roughly an hour a week for at least a month--for the buy/keep decision--and 45 minutes a week indefinitely. Also, keep the receipt in case you find it isn't right for you, for whatever reason.
Other reviewers have accurately pointed out that using this device is, in effect, meditation. That's true. I've used meditation CDs--including one specifically on meditation through breathing. They were helpful. But in my experience, none of them have been as easy and as foolproof to use as this device.
BACKSTORY:
My blood pressure gradually crept up over the years, and the diagnosis of "labile hypertension" changed to simply "hypertension." Saw this device online, and decided to give it a try. It has made the difference between starting medication and not having to take one. TWO YEARS LATER, I've maintained the gains and then some. As a resulted I still don't require meds for hypertension--a diagosis my MD has dropped.
Yes, this IS pricey. But so was the non-generic medication my cardiologist was considering. I have prescription drug coverage, but copayments quickly add up, especially for non-generic. (NOTE: Many of the newer meds are not yet available as generics.) So, I bought the Resperate, knowing I could try it and return it if I didn't like it and/or it didn't have the desired effect.
But overall, I do like it--a lot. And it has had a beneficial effect on my blood pressure. After less than two weeks using this, at my next MD visit I learned that my systolic blood pressure (top number) had dropped 14 points, the diastolic blood pressure (bottom number) had dropped 3 points. Two years later, I now average 110/70.
When the Resperate arrived, I was a little overwhelmed, so I asked a techie person to walk me through the set up. Turns out it was a LOT easier than I'd anticipated.
The basic premise is that blood pressure can be changed by breathing more slowly and deeply. This little machine actually "analyzes" your breathing pattern in the here and now. It first "senses" where you are using feedback from the sensor on an elastic belt, then gives you immediate feedback (initially through the screen, then through the melody) about how to slow your breathing, breath by breath. The default time for a training session is 15 minutes. The goal, however, is to accumulate 45 minutes of EFFECTIVE breath training per WEEK. (Effective is defined as breathing fewer than 10 times per minute.) The manual states that while your breathing will return to a higher rate, the positive mpact on your sympathetic nervous system carries over.
Scheduling the use of the Resperate into my routine as part of bedtime preparation has worked best for me. Initially I used it every night to help establish its use as a habit. Using the Resperate is relaxing; I also find I sleep more deeply on the nights I use it.
I did try the different "melodies"--there are five to choose from. I like three. (One of them I found irritating, another was so-so.)
NOTE FOR TECHIE TYPES: There is a statistics function that can provide detailed info, but if more than one person uses the device, the stats would be meaningless. Two years later, the manufacturer (Intercure) now offers a slightly more expensive version--called RESP@RATE Duo--which incorporates two separate memory functions for each of two users. However, as another reviewer noted, that won't work for clinics or group settings; there, tracking statistical results would stilll need to be done with paper records, or using an Excel worksheet.
A word of caution for those with pets, small children or grandchildren: Don't leave this out, with its tempting cords and elastic belt! The manufacturer suggests stuffing the cords and belt into the device. I found this tiresome, since the cords tended to tangle. However, the headphones do store well on the device itself. A gallon size freezer bag is easier to use. This will keep those tempting cords away from inquisitive pets. Or just put it back into the box or store it in the drawer of your bedside table. (OCD can purchase a travel/carry case from Intercure.)

Introducing RESPeRATE, the interactive breathing device used by thousands of men and woman nationwide to gain control over high blood pressure. Used for just 15 minutes a few times a week, RESPeRATE delivers a significant all-day blood pressure reduction.
The Power to Lower Blood PressureRESPeRATE is a portable, computerized electronic device that guides you through sessions of interactive, therapeutic breathing powerful enough to lower blood pressure.
Using a breathing sensor, RESPeRATE automatically analyzes your individual breathing pattern and creates a personalized melody composed of two distinct inhale and exhale guiding tones, delivered through comfortable earphones.
Simply listen to the melody through the headphones and synchronize your breathing to the tones. By prolonging the exhalation tone RESPeRATE guides you to slow your breathing and reach the "therapeutic zone" of less than 10 breaths per minute.
The physiological result? The muscles surrounding the small blood vessels in your body dilate, and relax. Blood is allowed to flow more freely, and pressure is directly, significantly lowered.
Breathing with RESPeRATE makes the difference Scientific evidence has shown that structured therapeutic breathing, if performed without an effort or particular concentration, can significantly lower your blood pressure. However, these effortless therapeutic breathing sessions are difficult to perform on your own without years of training or continuous, individualized coaching. That is why RESPeRATE was developed.
To deliver effortless therapeutic breathing without any prior training, RESPeRATE utilizes a patented "Interactive Respiratory Pacing" technology, which ingeniously takes advantage of the body's natural tendency to follow external rhythms.
And while your breathing returns to normal after each session with RESPeRATE, the beneficial impact on your blood pressure is cumulative. Bottom line: with regular use of RESPeRATE, measurable, sustained reduction in blood pressure is achieved.
Who Should Use RESPeRATEWhether you are already taking anti-hypertension medication or still trying to lower blood pressure with diet and exercise, RESPeRATE might just be the tool you need.
Seven clinical trials repeatedly found RESPeRATE to be safe and effective for people with high blood pressure, either medicated or unmedicated, male or female, younger and older.
One particular study, published in American Journal of Hypertension, even found that RESPeRATE delivered significant blood pressure reductions for people who had uncontrolled blood pressure despite taking three or more medications at maximum dosage.
RESPeRATE Contents: RESPeRATE device, respiration sensor, headphones, user manual, and 4 AA batteries.

When I received this ball in the mail it had a hole in it. I called the company and they said to just throw it away and they'll send me another one free of charge. That's great customer service! As far as results it's still too soon to tell, but my jeans are fitting better in the tummy area.

Sunpentown Healthy Swing Machine with Swivel Disc Review

Sunpentown Healthy Swing Machine with Swivel Disc
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased my first chi machine, an Exerciser 2000, back in 1999 for nearly $400. It's a fine product, but it only has one setting, which I discovered is just way too fast for my bad back to tolerate safely or comfortably. Needless to say, I regretted that purchase and consequently stayed away from chi machines for a few years.
By comparison, the Supentown AB-07 is under $80, it features up to 14 speed settings, and has an easy-to-use remote with multiple options. Now my only reget is that I didn't go looking for this thing sooner.
If you have never used a chi machine before, it's hard to describe the experience. They're simply unlike any other exercise machines I know of. The feeling is both relaxing and invigorating and for people like me, they're great way to help stay active without risking further injury.
If you have a chronic injury or are not in great physical condition, I highly recommend the Supentown (assuming your doctor or physical therapist agrees that chi machines are a safe option for your situation). It's the best value I could find on the market and has more features than many of the far more expensive models.
At the slowest setting, it's so gentle I can use it comfortably even when my back and neck are really hurting. And when I want to step up the pace, the remote makes it easy to increase or decrease the speed gradually, in small increments, so it's always easy to find a pace that feels just right.
I placed my order on a Sunday evening and recieved the machine by Wednesday afternoon using standard shipping.
Only two minor issues to mention.
1. The ankle rest is made of hard plastic, so some folks may want to use a little extra padding for comfort (like wearing an extra pair of socks perhaps).
2. The ankle rest is also a little smaller compared to the Exerciser 2000. I believe they had asian women in mind when they manufactured this model. Wearing a man's size 9 shoe, it fits me just fine. But I suppose people with much larger feet may find it a bit tight.
All things considered, this is one of the very best purchases I've made at Amazon.

The Healthy Swinger provides a simple exercise without applying any stress on the spine or other body parts. Simply lie down and let the Healthy Swinger do the walking for you. The gentle side-to-side rocking motion maintains a proper "chi" balance and oxygen supply to the body. "Chi" is said to be the balance of negative and positive forms in the body, which are essential to good health in old Asian tradition. A great and effective remedy for those with circulatory problems in the legs and feet. However, the unit benefits all users. Regular use of this relaxing massage movement stimulates your body and achieves relaxation and stress reduction. Sense of well-being arises from the massaging swing action and is immediately noticeable.

Ultrabreathe ASI7492 Compact Breathing Exerciser Review

Ultrabreathe ASI7492 Compact Breathing Exerciser
Average Reviews:

I'm no doctor, so I'm only writing this as someone with breathing problems.
Inhaling is mostly a passive function. So when you use this device, the muscles involved in inhaling are coaxed into being active. I can feel them working differently than they usually do, and it's quite a workout!
It's analogous to the benefit that a really bulked-up football player gets when he stretches. Most of the time he's contracting his muscles, but it's important that he lengthen them, too. In yoga, when you do any posture, you almost always follow up with a complementary position -- a counterposture. In both activities, maintaining flexibility doesn't only enhance your ability; it also helps prevent injury.
When I use this device, I can feel muscles that I don't usually feel, and they're getting stronger. It increases my stamina and helps me prevent the symptoms that usually accompany strenuous activity. It works beautifully for me.

Do you ever feel a shortness of breath from simply walking up a flight of stairs? Would you like to gain better lung stamina during vigorous workouts? Now, thanks to the Ultrabreathe, you can relieve the symptoms of breathlessness by giving your lungs a daily workout from the comfort of the armchair. Just inhale through Ultrabreathe for a few minutes twice a day in a simple breathing pattern as shown in the instructions. Ultrabreathe works on the principle of resistance. As you inhale, the resistance created makes your respiratory muscles work harder, and the harder they work the stronger and more durable they become. As your breathing power improves, Ultrabreathe can be gradually adjusted to provide more resistance with just the twist of a knob. It can even help reduce the feeling of breathlessness from some lung diseases such as asthma, bronchitis and emphysema. Doctors have been prescribing big, bulky breathing devices for post-surgery patients to increase their lung power for years. Ultrabreathe gives you the same effects, but is so small and compact you can take it with you to exercise your lungs wherever you are. Whether you¿re exercising for cardio fitness, sports or not at all, you¿ll breathe deeper and more easily than ever. Within a month you will be on your way to feeling the wonderful effects of strong, healthy lungs!
