Powertec Fitness P-HC10 45-Degree Dual Hyperextension / Roman Chair Review

Powertec Fitness P-HC10 45-Degree Dual Hyperextension / Roman Chair
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this Hyper/roman chair made by Powertec because I own Powertec's leverage workbench and it is an OUTSTANDING, SOLID piece of equipment so, I thought that I couldn't go wrong with their Roman Chair- I was correct to think so. The P-HR 45 by Powertec feels extremely SOLID while in use. The previous review complained about the pads being set to far apart- I did not find that to be so. I actually think that Powertec did this so that men could do Hyperextensions on this equipment in comfort and not have to worry about the family jewels being ruined. (Thanks Powertec!) Most Hyper/Roman chairs that I have seen are a bit huge. This chair surprisingly takes up very little space. It is very important that you FOLLOW DIRECTIONS when putting this together. It states that you should NOT tighten the bolts when putting this together until all the bolts are in place. I put all bolts into place and then tightened them starting from the bottom of the chair and worked my way up. TRUST me when I tell you that you should take heed to this as it really does make a difference as to how solid this machine will feel to you when you are using it. To me, there is nothing more important than to have your abs and lower back in there absolute best shape. Do yourself a favor and add this EXCELLENT piece of equipment to your home gym.

Stamina Ab / Hyper Bench Review

Stamina Ab / Hyper Bench
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Delivery: the item arrived promptly and was well packaged; there was no damage.
Assembly: uncomplicated and took under 30 minutes; instructions were straightforward; the bench can be easily folded and stored away.
Country of origin: China.
Construction: the steel frame is fairly light, but sturdy; no rickety parts; every single joint is thoroughly welded; the bench does not rock or tip during exercise; paint job is A+; padding is a little on a flimsy side and I do not expect it to last as long as my previous bench; the manufacturer specifies 250 lbs as a user weight limit.
Dimensions: the seat is only 28.5 inches long, so decide for yourself whether this is adequate for you; I would estimate that anyone over 6 ft tall will have difficulty using this product for sit-ups.
The vertical component of the bench (tilted 40 degrees and used for back hyperextension exercises) has adjustable height and will accommodate just about any sized human (but do not forget the 250 lbs weight limit); it does excellent job isolating the lower back muscles.
Overall appearance: it looks like a quality product overall, from stitching to glossy finish; the design is certainly compact and clever for what this bench does.
Price: $100 for a bench like this, including delivery, is a good value.
Rating: 4 stars; there are nicer products out there, but they are all bulkier and more expensive.

Posture Pump Elliptical Rocker .
This posture pump which I received with a lot of expectation has failed and dissapointed me terribly.
The thing doesn't release the air in the lower chamber. I guess it is a factory fault.

Powerline PAB21X Ab Bench Review

Powerline PAB21X Ab Bench
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am very pleased with the Powerline Ab bench and would give it 5 stars if the steel was slightly heavier (not needed, but I guess I'm picky). The item was fairly easy to assemble and very intuitive to use. The back rest is adjustable and quickly slides up and down the rear support after loosening a thumbscrew. The back pad is VERY firm, yet comfortable. My 4 year-old son who weighs 45 lbs was jumping up and down on it before it was assembled and didn't even dent it. The curve felt quite natural and even comfortable on my back.
The handholds on the strap seem very sturdy and the strap itself seems to support the back of the head when doing the exercises. The pully is very strong and rolls quite smoothly.
I've loaded it up with 100 lbs for this workout using 25 lb plates (it holds both standard and olympic quite well) and felt no strain or give in the device (in me, well that's another story). One rep on the ab bench felt like 25 on the floor. I am a competitive powerlifter and am very happy to see that the ab bench can take some weight.
I am extremely happy with my purchase and wish I had made it earlier. I definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for greater core strength or has back problems that hinder their attempts at doing other abdominal exercises.

Powerline PHYP200X 45 Degree Hyperextension Bench Review

Powerline PHYP200X 45 Degree Hyperextension Bench
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Nice, sturdy quality unit and fairly easy to assemble. Much better than a cheaper one I purchased that collapsed on me, so worth the extra money. (I'm 260# and have no problems or concerns with this unit capacity-wise.) My only complaint is that the "handlebars" are too close together, and I have to concentrate on missing them. Six inches further apart would be nice. If you're average-sized or smaller, you shouldn't have a problem.

Roman Chair Review

Roman Chair
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I like this chair much better than the ones where you sit high up off the ground with your legs straight out, and your feet are secured by only your toes under a single set of pads.
I also like the fact that the support pad is declined "backwards". I believe this is a more natural position and allows for great, safe, natural, range of motion, with less stress on your lower back. Especially since the legs are not pointing straight out, like in other models. Most pads are horizontal, or worse, inclined "forwards", which is OK if doing hyperextensions for the back, but it's not ideal for doing abdominal work. Most "Roman Chair / Hyperextension" combo machines (the ones that are for both back and abs) are more user friendly for the Lower Back when doing hyperextensions. But not so user friendly for the abs, especially if you are just an average Joe starting out (as opposed to the fitness models shown standing next to the machines). I particularly believe if you are overweight, especially if heavy, you really want to pick the right machine for ab work. A poorly designed machine will stress the lower back even more, disproportionally, the heavier you are. This machine is great for beginners or advanced users. It's also much easier to grab an olympic plate off the floor while using this model, because it sits low to the ground, and you can do sit-ups with the plate across your chest. If you are just starting out, keep your hands low, near your hips. As you progress you can raise your arms up higher, eventually over your head, to add "weight" to the exercise. Eventually adding weights if you want. The unit is also very compact, lightweight, and stores easier than most models. It's quite rugged, and very stable while using it. Assembly was a cinch. No complaints. I highly recommend this model. Note: if you are very tall, over 6 ft, it is possible to hit your head on the ground if you swing back wildly. Just be mindful of that.

Yamuna Body Rolling Yellow Ball Kit Review

Yamuna Body Rolling Yellow Ball Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am enjoying "body rolling" and I am able to see immediate benefits. I have even suprised myself at how I want to and look forward to "getting on the ball." My only criticism is the supporting DVDs. They lack quality and integrity. Here's my initial reaction when I watched the YBR Total Body Workout DVD and the Leg Routines DVD:
The videos lack quality:
1) The camera often focuses on the instructor's face instead of the action/exercise that's taking place.
2) On several occasions you cannot see the action that is being performed because another person is blocking the camera's view. This occurs because the person who is the immediate subject is not the closest to the camera.
3) You cannot see a particular movement because the camera is showing the back of the person as opposed to the front where the action/movement with the ball is taking place.
4) Each routine begins with a pre-instruction. During the pre-instruction Yamuna takes the ball and explains what will happen as she rolls it up/down the front/side/back of the participant. You can't skip over the pre-instruction without pressing your own DVD's fast forward button.
5) At times the instructor mentions that a move can be modified, but the modification isn't shown.
6) Although the video may follow an actual class format, this type of format does not lend itself to home viewing/usage, e.g., in one of the videos the class is instructed to get up and walk around to see how they feel. Additionally, a "one-to-one" format (instructor and one person) as opposed to a "class" format (instructor to 6- 8 people) would have been better suited especially since all participants in the video don't come across as equal practioners; further you don't need to watch the others - they translate into "noise."
The videos lack integrity:
1) The Leg Routines DVD is just a rehash of the leg routines in the Total Body Workout DVD.
2) The Leg Routines DVD is not a 40 minute workout. It may be 40 minutes in length, but it does not equate to 40 minutes of movement.
3) The background in both DVDs lack visual interest and stimulation. To be perfectly honest, they look like videos made by amateurs and not a professional company.
The Bottom Line:
Get the book, get the ball, get the pump! But, if you must purchase a DVD, make it the Total Body Workout DVD. It'll be enough here to satisfy the visual learner and introduce you to the body rolling techniques for the various body parts, but again don't expect a continuous routine/work out.
My rating:
I rated this item a 4 instead of a 5 because of the weakness in the DVDs. For a 5 rating, everything would have had to been excellent -- the book, the DVD, and the ball. Unfortunately, the DVD (sub par content, execution, and integrity) prevents a "5".
