Dynaflex Pro Sports Gyro Wrist Exerciser Review

Dynaflex Pro Sports Gyro Wrist Exerciser

It's funny how so many of the reviews posted here are either 5-star "its so great! its so easy!", or 1-star "its a piece of worthless junk!". The reality is that, for most of us, its going to fall somewhere in between. I bought one of these a week ago from a local sports shop, thinking that I could bring it into my office or with me when I travel, and use it while I read over papers and reports. Any chance I can get to multi-task... After a week of use...
Pros: I can easily see how this would provide a decent forearm workout. When I use it for 4-5 minutes in one arm I can really feel those muscles have indeed been worked. Consequently, I would say that it works more or less as advertised, meaning that it does what it says it will do (strengthen your forearms, hands, wrists, fingers, etc.)
Cons: Despite some of the promotional material, it is not the easiest thing in the world to get started. I tried the "handstrike" methods to no avail. After a week of using it several times a day, I am now focusing solely on starting it with the string. I am only able to get it up to truly high rpm's once out of every 5-6 tries; however I can almost always get it up to the point where it will run for a minute or two. The motion involved is not quite the simple "back and forth" that is advertised on the package or in the "instructional" dvd that comes with it. It seems to be more of a circular motion, and it seems to be important to not try to force the gyroscope to spin too fast too quickly, you need to work with it especially at the beginning. And to some of you who say it is ridiculously easy to use; yes I *can* tie my own shoes, I *am* reasonably well coordinated. Please simply consider yourself lucky that it worked for you so easily rather than insulting the rest of us.
Consequently, at this point, it is definitely *not* the tool I was hoping for in that I really need to pay attention to it in order to use it. I can't read, look at my computer screen, have a phone conversation, or really think about anything other than the gyroscope. Hopefully this changes over time.
Additionally, those folks who want to use it at their workplace should know that it is *not* silent, the gyroscope absolutely makes a small noise when it gets up to high rpms, which may be distracting in some work environments.
So, does it strengthen your hands & forearms, probably. Is it as easy to use as some suggest? Definitely not. However, I would hazard a guess that most people could develop the skill required with a few days or weeks of steady practice. I'll hope that works for me at least.

DynaMax Pro Trainer 12086PC Core Strengthening System Review

I got this for Christmas this year and was very excited as I have the smaller version and it has been a great tool for years. I began using it right away and have used it every day with a noticable improvement in arm definition. Unfortunately when I picked it up today and pressed the button on the end to get it started it made a terrible rattling sound and failed to spin up properly. It appears that the rubber wheel on the little motor that spins the gyro up to speed has shifted and is no longer contacting the inner surface properly. I have contacted the company for service/replacement. I will revise my rating depending on the service I get. Stay Tuned!
*Update*
Well I called the company and they seemed more interested in not being responsible for the repair then being helpful with the return/information relating to the problem. I'm guessing this design is not working so well for them as they are apparently making a new version that is manual start (like the smaller hand version). I'm guessing that the little electric start up motor/mounting is not up to the vibrations this creates during use. I'm plan to wait till the new version comes out and getting on of those.
*UPDATE*
New manual start version is finally out!

Smaller and lighter than the DynaMax Core Trainer, the DynaMax Pro offers the same high-end functionality but for a more affordable price. The DynaMax Pro is designed with the same principles in mind as the company's handheld gyros, but with a focus on working your core and upper body through resistance and isometrics, rather than just your arms and elbows. The gyro is distinguished by a built-in starter and LED lights that get brighter as the speed increases. More importantly, the DynaMax Pro generates roughly 178 pounds of resistance and a top speed of 6,000 rpm, helping the user maintain balance, speed, and endurance--all essential for core training.
The DynaMax Pro Trainer is made of machine-molded, high-strength plastic, which provides a super-strong housing while lessening the cost per unit. The material translates to a very affordable yet cutting-edge training device. Each unit is also inspected and tested by the company's expert craftsmen, who take pride in knowing that each Pro Trainer is the most effective and unique training tool available. Other features include a built-in starter, foam rubber grips, and an instructional training DVD. The DynaMax Pro requires two AA batteries (not included).

Power Ball Pro Gyro - The Gyroscopic Exerciser That is Capable of Speeds over 9,000 rmp and 25 lbs. of Torque Review

Power Ball Pro Gyro - The Gyroscopic Exerciser That is Capable of Speeds over 9,000 rmp and 25 lbs. of Torque

This little gyroscope is a great forearm and wrist trainer, but only if used in addition to a "wrist roller." Wrist Roller This will initially feel like it is a good workout, but you will strengthen these small muscles very quickly. After about a week, you should be using this AFTER you have fatigues your forearm and wrist muscles with a different exercise. (Again, I recommend using a wrist roller the most.) If you do this, you will see the largest results, and develop much stronger wrist and forearm muscles.

DynaFlex Docking Station with Blue Powerball 12075 Strengthening System Review

After reading some of these reviews, I was worried. I inserted the batteries, inserted the powerball into the docking station and held it down while pressing the button. It barely spun as it started turning sideways. I was thinking the negative reviews were correct or mine was broken. Then, I noticed the picture showed it not being held down when in the dock. So, I aligned it, let go of it, and pressed the button. It immediately spun up to a high speed and I picked it up.
The 1st time I tried it, it slowed down. Again, I was thinking the negative reviews were correct. But, I went to their site and watched their video. Once I realized that the written instructions (which say left to right motion) are wrong, it was easy. You rotate your wrist in a simple circle (like you are drawing a small circle with a pen). When you do this and it is spinning fast enough, you suddenly feel it "catch" and start speeding up. If you circle too fast or to slow you can feel the change in resistance and stops increasing the speed. So, by circling at the speed that gives a constant pressure back, it gets faster and faster (you can hear it revving up). I found that I could learn the motion with bigger circles, but the big speed up happens with smaller circles.
I then tried the string start and it works, but you have to pull really fast. Pulling hard is useless, pulling fast is what is needed (it has no real resistance).
I have not tried a thumb start, but I can see how it would work - you need to have the circling motion just right though (cannot take long to catch the right speed).
I have only had one day, so cannot comment on how well it helps my wrist pain (computer use). But, it does feel like it will strengthen my wrist, which is what I need.

Jump start your gyro exerciser and get it up to operating speed in seconds with the DynaFlex PowerDock docking station. Bundled with DynaFlex's Powerball (blue) hand exerciser, the package offers everything you need to increase your range of motion and condition your arm, elbow, and shoulder muscles. The ultimate in engineering design, the Powerball offers the same user-friendly features as the DynaFlex Pro Plus, but incorporates an onboard generator and balanced rotor. By activating the gyro, a dynamism (motion) is created, which will activate blue LED lights that are located in the interior of the gyro. The faster the unit runs, the brighter the lights will radiate until the whole hand is engulfed in a bright glow. More importantly, the Powerball generates 40 pounds of torque and speeds of up to 18,000 rpm, making it an ideal tool for physical therapists, trainers, and athletes who want to improve muscle condition and/or rehabilitate nagging upper body injuries.
As a bonus, the removable end cap lets you attach an optional speed meter, making it easy to monitor your exercise time, rpm speeds, and other functions. The PowerDock docking station, meanwhile, both activates your Powerball gyro and serves as a fantastic and modern-looking base to rest your gyro while not in use. Just hold the button for a few seconds and hold on tight. The docking station requires two AA batteries (not included).

Dynaflex Powerball Gyro Wrist and Forearm Exerciser Review

Dynaflex Powerball Gyro Wrist and Forearm Exerciser

This item is a great item that is fun and works out your arms so great that it feels like they will fall off. Although when i bought the item i thought that i was buying the highest end gyro ,Powerball Blue, with speeds of up to 18000rpm and 40lbs resistance. This is simply a cheaper gyro that they applied blue lights to and called the powerball blue since it only has 32-35 lbs resistance and speeds up to 13000rpm. So make sure you know what you are buying because it was a big mistake for me
